I feel I was freed from a psychological and emotional slavery. It felt as if my soul came back to my body and Egypt (my soul) is ours again." Maged Makled - Minnesotan Egyptian
In solidarity with Egyptians and all Arab people, the Arab American Cultural Institute hosted Mabrouk Egypt, a night of connection between the Twin Cities of Minnesota and the heart of Middle East. Eating Basbousa and sipping Egyptian coffee, the audience listened to local Egyptians of variable ages. They talked to us about their understanding of the revolution. What critical factors lead to this incredible phenomena? was it part of a large movement that included the whole Middle East? Had this revolution produced its goals thus far? What would enhance the success of this revolution? What did the revolution tell us about the Egyptians, the Arabs and ourselves as members of the human race?
