Call for Art:
KELIMAAT: Verbal Visual Dance
This is a working title of the Arab American Cultural Institute's coming show. We urge you to apply for if you are a Minnesotan artist.
This exhibition will celebrate the aesthetics of the written word and examine the entwine between its verbal and visual meanings. Although it will focus on Arabic, other alphabets will also be included. The text used can vary from refined calligraphy to random scribble, including typography and all other forms of manipulating texts. The text should be the predominant visual image in the work in any medium.
We don't have a firm date yet neither do we have a space booked. We are just giving you heads up to prepare artwork so when we send you call for art you can provide us with a sample.
If you know of Arab Minnesotan artists please let them know and let us know about them. If you know non-Arab artists who work around this theme, please spread the word to them too.
